Women's Creative Meetup

A Space for Creative Women to Come Together

Creator and Co-Producer

The Women’s Creative Meetup was conceived when a woman I was speaking to at a photographer meetup mentioned she would not attend another photographer group in the city’s events because “It’s a bunch of men”. I was a member of that group and I thought she was being a bit sexist at first.

The more I thought about it the more I realized she wasn’t really talking about men but about the environment. Multiple women I had spoken to had run into the feeling of ‘not belonging’ in these male dominated groups and not because of any malicious behaviors. For the next year after that I tried to bring my idea for an all women’s meetup to the people I felt could help me.

Almost one year later, it came true.

The Goal: Attract women creatives/entrepreneurs/executives to a welcoming space and encourage them to engage more with local creative groups around town.

The Breakdown: I enlisted the same photography group that was “all men” (it wasn’t really) to help me spread the word about this event as they had the largest social reach and worked with three co-producers who brought a lot of value to the project.

I introduced the idea of “featured guests” that would both lend credibility to our concept and attract more potential attendees via their followings.

Our Partners

103 Attendees

Using a QR code check-in I set up, we tracked the number of unique attendees.

Live Performance

One of the main producers was able to secure a local K POP dance group which our attendees loved!

Meetup Format

While some portions of the event were structured, most of the time attendees were able to create content together, do mini photo shoots, and enjoy a 360 camera pop up.

Promo Video

This piece of media right here is something I take a lot of pride in. Instead of doing a talking head video saying “come to our event” I came up with a way to showcase the event and make it really fun.

The idea was to treat the event like it was a big secret that got out and the paparazzi were waiting in ambush outside of the ‘rumored’ venue, the Thrift Thru, for the producers to come out.

All of the producers of the event were the ones to come out and be bombarded by the “paparazzi” (I’m in the black coat) while they shouted questions that gave information about the event.

One of our producers had someone edit the footage together overnight.

Recap Video

This isn’t actually a recap as much as it’s a ‘resume’ video. I was campaigning to be nominated for “Photographer of the Year” at Texas Fashion Week and I needed to show my impact on the community. At the time of this writing i “have” been nominated and on October 6th, 2024 I will find out if I’ve won.

“Stefani Elle” or “Stefawni” is what I go by publicly. You will see those names across my portfolio.
